Info Akaroa was originally settled by French colonists, following the arrival of the "Comte de Paris" out of Rochefort, France in August 1840. Only the previous month, the British ship "Britomart" landed and planted the Union Jack,leaving after five days and returning to claim the land for the British, however the French colonists remained and Akaroa now retains a distinct French ambience. An obvious place for a Petanque terrain.

Info We hjave 24 full size pistes with a gravel base and crushed lime surface. Right beside the main railway line the one minute rule has to be suspended occasionally to allow long goods to pass. Recently installed lighting allows night play. Have held national Champs here, and regularly hold Regional champs. A very active club.
