One method that I have found useful to improve both pointing and shooting is to play against yourself with 2 sets of 3 boules each and designate one set as pointing only with a high lob (plombe) and the other pointing by low toss/roll. You shoot as necessary and keep score to 13. As we all know some conditions call for the high shot and some for a rolling shot. This technique will improve both. Have fun while practicing!

Another way is to manually arrange one set of boules around the coche in awkward positions (staggered, front side etc.) at different distances.

Sometimes we play a singles match where the first player will try pointing in all three boules. The second player (three shots down) then plays his three either by shooting or a combination of shooting and pointing. there is no actual scoring in this game. Players alternate every end.
