Nordrhein-Westfalen for the six time Division Champion.
The German Federation held the Division Championships this year in the town of Hungen because of its central location point for all Divisions to reach. The Games were played on the 4th and 5th of March before the Official Outdoor Saison starts. All nine Divisions took part and both days were very exciting for players and spectators. A wonderful Tournament for others to start in their own Country. Each Division sends 5 Teams 3 Senior, 1 Woman, and 1 youth. The Division choose their teams eather through Qualifacations or with player listings in the Division. The Senior group are ranked with Team 1,Team 2, and Team 3. The System: each Division plays against each other, so a Match is five games. To get a Point you have to win three games from the five. In the end if two Divisions or more who have the same points, then the total won games are counted and there ball diference. If its still the same then the winner or position is decided which of the teams won in the match when they played against each other. The Top German favorite for many years is Nordrhein-Westfalen with their extreme strong Teams and the measuring ruler for many opponients. But coming strong is Baden-Württemberg and the strong couching effort from Ludwig Schudt. Many Divisions came with Couches for each team. With evaluation and play play score pads. The Results:
1. Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) 7:1, 2. Baden-Württemberg (BaWü) 6:2, 3.Nord 5:3, 4. Saarland 4:4, 5. Berlin 4:4, 6. Hessen 3:5, 7. Nieder-Sachsen 3:5, 8. Bayern 2:6, 9. Rheinland-Pflaz 2:6. The Best Senior Team was Hessen 2 Sascha Koch, Florian Hennekemper, and Thorsten Schäfer 8:0, Best Woman Team NRW Angelika Thelen, Ruth Seebach, and Daniela Thelen 6:2. Best Youth Team BaWü Tobias Müller, Hannes Haller, and Patrik Abdelhak 7:1. Compliment on the Federation (DPV) and the Hessen Division who were host for an excellent Tournamet.
For some reason the worl championship in petanque is held in the buzzling metroloplis of Tahiti this year! So pack your swimwear and go there at once!
Finally petanque has found a new home, as a bar game! Althought it might take a few years befor the darts-boards get the boot and petanque moves in everywhere it has started to happen
The Financial times has finally understood that Petanque is the game of the future, with our long time friend Mike Pegg, International umpire. "It may not be the sunny south of France but even on a chilly Devon day, British fans are warming to the charms of pétanque"
This is a product we have mentioned earlier, just because it is sooooo French. A Tour de France petanque-set! This is more French than a baguette!
We stumbled across a petanque-game for the andoid-system. From the produces description:"Petanque in St Tropez is a 3D bowls game, as played on the mediterannean coast." We do not have an android-phone to test it on, perhaps one of you can help us out?
