In Ukraine there started to play petanque in 2003. That year in Zakarpattya - the most western region of Ukraine - the First Transcarpathian Petanque Club, which is the only official club of Ukraine until now, was officially registered. A report by Olexandr Popovych of the Ukraine

The First Transcarpathian Petanque Club united scores of amateurs of petanque. In the period of its existence teams of the Club took part in several international tournaments, established international club relations, organized several home tournaments. In 2006 the Club has built its first own petanque court with 8 tracks and organized the first International Tournament, in which players from Belorus, Switzerland and Ukraine took part.
In the beginning of 2007 with the assistance of the First Transcarpathian Petanque Club in Uzhgorod there was built a covered petanque court, which is the first in Ukraine. The Club is planning to organize Spring International Tournament in Uzhgorod in the end of April, open children's league and register Ukrainian Petanque Federation in order to help young clubs to develop.
Now, with the assistance of the First Transcarpathian Petanque Club new teams appear in Ukraine. In Dolyna, Rivne, Kharkiv some more clubs are going to be registered.
The First Transcarpathian Petanque Club invites Clubs of all European and other countries to cooperation. The Club is about to develop petanque in Ukraine.
We are looking for partnership relations with companies-manufacturers of equipments for petanque. In Ukraine there is no possibility to buy equipment and accessories for petanque. The Clubs buys all necessary equipment in Slovakia and Hungary. Any propositions about cooperation are welcomed.

There were 10 doublets who played in 2 round robin leagues. The top 2 teams then played in the semi-finals. The final was won by Paul and Howie who beat Gerald and Bridget in a tense final that finished well after 8pm.
We have received word that we have supplied quite a lot of images to a story by the municipal Library in Lyon, France. And the story is worth a read!
Many years ago there was no way of getting your pictures online unless you knew someone with a homepage. Or you mailed them to petanque.org, and we'd put it on the web for you. But nowadays nobody does this thing anymore, there are thousands of ways to get your images online, and our pictures-section is about as dry as the sahara. So we have had to make some changes
